Why is defrauding someone by pretending to be a psychic illegal and televangelists and church funding drives aren’t?

This is a fantastic and intriguing question. I have wondered similar things and I plan on seeing what others say about this.

Those who defraud others are bringing themselves horrible karma. I do believe “what goes around, comes around” and so in that sense they will get what is coming to them. But I don’t know why they are allowed to do that.

Don’t get me wrong. I think there is a difference between churches that are legit and here to help the public, and those out to make millions solely to make millions and end up helping no one.
