Have you ever proven doctors wrong when they said something was all in your head/you were making it up?

Yes.

I had menstrual issues since my period started at 12 years old. I had horrible irregular periods, heavy menstruation, horribly painful cramps, etc. Everyone told me it was normal. I didn’t think so. I knew something was wrong.

I asked to go to the emergency room a lot. And I was taken and told I was fine and sent home. I asked to go to doctors, specialists, testing, etc. and all came back normal. But I knew something was wrong.

4 years of people, family and doctors not believing me, I had an ultrasound which showed a cyst on my ovary. I was sent to Children’s GYN and told the GYN about all of my problems and he said he wanted me to try birth control. He wanted to see if we could regulate my cycle.

It didn’t work. Then he said, I think you have endometriosis.

I went in for surgery (that is the only way to diagnose it 100%) and they took pictures of it, lasered it out and told me they found it, it was endometriosis.

I was right. I was then put on hormones for the endometriosis and I cried. I didn’t want something to be wrong with me (like a horrible disease) but I have been dealing with it every day since. Thankfully it isn’t life threatening, it is just largely debilitating and sprouts off more health issues.

Trust your intuition if you know something is wrong. You know your body better than anyone else.
