Why is it not widely socially acceptable to be a single bachelor man or a single bachelorette lady for the rest of your life? Basically, being unmarried all your life and staying single forever?

  1. If you feel comfortable and happy being single, then why not stay single?
  2. Society thinks we should all get married, have kids, land the perfect high paying job, stay in that job for 45 years, retire happily, enjoy grandchildren, etc. but life isn’t like that in most circumstances.

I think, years ago, this was the ideal and the “norm”. We could get married, have kids, go to work, retire, etc. but now-a-days, things have changed and it is more widely accepted to be your true self – even if you go against the grain of societal norms.

30 years ago, it would probably deemed even less acceptable to be single your entire life, but things have been and are continuing to change.

If you want to be single, be single. Why not?

Then there is the possibility that you meet someone and your entire perspective changes.

The Dalai Lama says there are two things we can always count on:

  1. Death – we will die some day
  2. Change – things are always changing
